Membership - First VP Chairs; All ARs should be members of this committee. Peggy will only need two or three people to help process new members in August, September and October. Monthly updates are done on payroll lists from Garland and Mesquite as well as TSTA.

Legislative - In January, the committee should meet to revise the school board letter and questionnaire. In March, this committee, with the Interview Committee, will meet with the school board candidates. In April, the committee conducts the school board forum. The committee needs to address increasing continuing contributors to PAC. If the Legislature meets during the school year, the committee will need to communicate with members regarding issues.

Interview Committe - Interviews school board candidates to talk about our questionnaire and decide whether to endorse or not endorse candidates. If there is no opposition in the race, we will forgo the forum.

Public and Professional Relations - This committee writes the newsletters. Targeted dates are July 19th for August newsletter, first week of October for the October newsletter, middle of January for the February newsletter, and mid-April for the May newsletter. The committee also develops the invitation to the general meetings and the Christmas party.

Instructional Advocacy - Should conduct a fall workshop, contacting TSTA for the presenter, and mailing the invitations. It meets in January to develop the spring survey to be disseminated in February. Chair should present results to trustees.

Professional and Human Rights - July meeting for training and planning. January meeting to reassess and prep for evaluations.

Education Support - ESP at large position is chair. Planning for ESP day the middle of November should be done by the October Executive Board Meeting. Help plan a presentation to the school board honoring ESPs in November.

Budget - President, Treasurer, in-coming President, in-coming VP and incoming Treasurer. Must meet in April to devise the proposed budget.

Audit Committe - President, First VP, plus 3. Meets with the Treasurer in July to audit the financial transactions and sign the report to TSTA.

Constitution, Bylaws and Elections - Past President is chair. Conduct the elections for Regional and State delegates (nominate at October General Meeting, election at December meeting). Conduct the elections for next years Executive Board and NEA delegates (nominate at December meeting, elections at February meeting). The committee should review the constitution and bylaws in the summer and decide if changes are needed.

 

SPECIAL COMMITTES:

Social - Be a liaison with GISD for getting meeting rooms. Provide snacks for AR and general meetings. Be in charge of food for the summer work day, and the Christmas party.

Workday (August) - Chaired by First VP and AR Coordinator. Call ARs and other members to work the day. ARs to pick up their bags that afternoon.

Read Across America (First Week of March) - Coordinate with district's Library Consultant. Planning should begin in November when NEA sends information.
